slight brain shunting

day 33:
last night cal "took me out to eat" downstairs at the cafeteria. haha. we hadn't done that yet and it was actually really nice having simms in a high chair instead of smearing all of his food all over every surface in my room. might be best for us to eat whatever dinner we have down there from now on!

my NST last night looked good. i honestly didn't even pay attention to it like i usually do because i was so exhausted i ended up sleeping through most of it. i have been really tired lately and don't feel like i am getting enough rest, as crazy as that sounds. so i had really looked forward to it being a rainy day today so that i could just be lazy and rest.

before i could even get on the NST this morning, they were calling me upstairs for my ultrasound. everything looked the same as it had except baby a had some brain shunting, meaning baby a is under some amount of stress and therefore his body sends more blood flow to the important organs, ie: brain. the weird thing about it is this baby used to be the bigger baby and not the baby that had shunting before. so on our growth ultrasound this coming monday, i expect that the baby with shunting will also be smaller, since thats what happened before. doc hennessey didn't seem too concerned with it. he just kept saying "dang it!" i guess for the past few weeks they have looked "perfect" and now they aren't. i'm not worried about it. i trust Gods plan. it'll be interesting to see if the boys are difference sizes on monday.

when i got back from the ultrasound i got on the monitor for the NST. not long after i was on, beverly came back to see me with her famous "slut brownies." pretty sure i wouldn't share these with my own child. thanks beverly!!! cal's cousins (kathleen and margaret sharp) also came by and brought unreal thumbprint cookies from village bakery. THANK YOU GUYS! they are actually in town because they became aunts today. happy birthday baby james! so excited for mary bailey and stuart oakes on their first baby! it will be so fun to have the twins be so close in age to baby james. just hate they aren't here at UT so i could go down the hall and see them.

i was surprised by two different deliveries today. first i got some beautiful GO VOLS flowers from becky and david mink…

these actually came at a perfect time because i had to dump all my dead flowers out yesterday. so THANK YOU GUYS!!!! and then i got a delivery of wicked good cupcakes from jen, finn, and scott stallings! really looking forward to trying these tonight, thank you all so much for thinking of me!!

it still blows my mind that anyone would take the time to come by, send food, send gifts, and most of all, spend time praying for our family. its incredibly humbling.  it sure does show what an amazing group of people i am blessed to call friends. i am incredibly grateful for each of you and hope i make it very clear.

after i got off the NST i ran down and grabbed some lunch. mom, simms, and bendel came up so i could see bendel's adorable haircut. my mom is really a champion at doing everything for us, down to getting bendel's haircut! thank you doesn't even do it all justice.

i still haven't gotten to have my lazy day today, but its ok. it didn't even end up being a nice rainy day for it. i don't know how i always run out of time to just relax, but i swear it happens everyday. there really is so much that goes on up here everyday. i can't imagine how busy the days are going to feel once the twins are here when it already feels so busy. haha! i better get my ass ready!!!!
