growth ultrasound

day 9:
today i got woken up by food service calling at 7am (an hour before anyone ever wakes me up) to see what i wanted for breakfast. well as soon as i had fallen back asleep from the phone call, the nurses came in saying it was time to go to my ultrasound. i was totally confused and mad at myself for not just getting up and getting ready when i woke up at 7. so i had to go up to my appointment without a shower (sobbing emoji) but i wasn't going to complain because i was so excited to have my ultrasound done! i've been waiting two weeks to see how they've grown! for every NST that i have done, baby a is perfect and stays on the monitor great, while baby b is horrible and never stays on. well, that was also the case for baby b at the ultrasound. he was all crunched up and being terrible and they didn't think they would get the best measurements but they went ahead and did them anyways.

ULTRASOUND RESULTS:

baby A was 1 lb 15oz and the 41st percentile (he was 1 lb 9oz, 70th percentile two weeks ago.)

baby B was 1 lb 13oz and the 28th percentile (he was 1 lb 3oz, 10th percentile two weeks ago.)

*just for shits and giggles heres their measurements from a monthish ago (august 12):
baby A was  1 lb 2oz and the 67th percentile.
baby B was 14 oz and 15th percentile.
(really wishing i had a graph for all this) because it seems weird to me that all of the sudden baby b is growing great and baby a has kind of dropped off. baby a only gained 6 oz and baby b gained 10. just wondering if the placenta has switched and is sending more to b now????

so today there was a 5% difference between the two of them, compared to the 20% we had two weeks ago. So i thought all those numbers sounded great! however, doc towers didn't seem as jazzed as i was. he was disappointed or anything. but i felt like we were suddenly in the clear and he didn't act like that at all. i said "so when do you think i'll deliver now with the way things are going!?" and he said "probably a couple of weeks, but of course i hope you are here a month and a half" that surprised me. i asked why he didn't think the numbers were great and he said that ultrasounds aren't always accurate, they under and over estimate all the time. he said he would be more confident after several good ultrasounds, which is understandable! hope these next two weeks go by fast!! he went on to tell me about a study of women in the hospital about to deliver (i loooove when he tells me about studies because 1) i am a nerd and love that kind of stuff 2) because it goes to show how smart he really is.) but they asked the moms what they thought their babies weight would be, asked the doctors to guess the babies weights, and then did an ultrasound to see its weight estimate. well guess who was right most often!? THE MOMS. pretty cool. but anyway! i can't wait to see what doc hennessey thinks about the ultrasound. i think he's back tomorrow. oh! almost forgot to say that the cord flow looked good and they didn't see any brain shunting. the nurse got some great 3ds of them which totally made my day:

they look JUST LIKE simms to me. baby a was sucking on his cord (photo on the right, thats why his lips are crooked) and you can see it to the left of his mouth, but for some reason it didn't totally show up.

after i got back from my ultrasound we started my NST.. in typical fashion baby b was an absolute nightmare and impossible to keep on. we ended up spending almost 2 hours trying to get my 30 min worth. but the NST looked great with awesome accels. i got my emergency iv line out while they were doing it!!! they told me that by the time i do need it, they would have a hard time finding a place to put it. so for now, its gone and i am REALLY ok with that! when we finally finished the NST, i jumped in the shower because my mom was FINALLY back from italy and coming up with simms for lunch. i have only texted with her a handful of times since i've been here and couldn't wait for her to finally come up and see everything thats been happening for the past week. i didn't get to finish getting ready before they got here. but it didn't matter. so excited to see everyone! plus she brought buttermilk sky thumbprints and a bunch of gifts from italy for me, simms, and the twins!!!!! (thanks for everything mom!!!) my cousin also stopped by while they were here and we all went on a little walk. i love being able to do that.

today was different because i got mail!!!! 3 packages to be exact! shoutout to parker williams, the lindseys and minors, and erin kalb for sending me all these fun goodies! every single day i am blown away with the kindness of others. i am so undeserving and appreciate it a ton! THANK EACH OF YOU! it truly brightens my day.

(erin sent glow sticks for simms to play with while he's up here. he's never seen them and LOVED them. basically he can't wait to go his first panic show, well, outside my body that is)

mom took simms home to nap and probably needed a nap herself after the jet lag. we started the afternoon NST after they left. want to guess who was horrible? i'll give you a clue:

he's so bad that i think i am going to be mad at him when he's born. its crazy that one of them can already be so bad. we spent about an hour trying to get the NST done and my awesome nurse ended up sitting here and holding him on. did i mention my nurses are the bomb!? but it was another great NST and i shouldnt complain. i am very thankful not to have decels or contractions or anything else bad on them.

i also got my part 1 of my next round of betamethasone (steroids.) i will get round 2 tomorrow and then will be done with them. they told me they will have to check my blood sugars for the next couple of days now after i eat and after sleeping. no big deal. i'm just glad to have the steroids for the boys.

TIME OUT. BEFORE I FORGET. can we just talk about how awesome it is that i get to be pregnant with kate middleton AGAIN. we're basically twins. both have brown hair, two arms, two legs, and a one year old boy that we were pregnant with at the same time. i'd be lying to say i wasn't a little disappointed to hear she isn't pregnant with twins like the rumors had said. but none the less, she and i are twins.

cal, simms, and bendel will be up in a little bit for dinner. so i am going to get off here and rest a little bit before they come!
